Fawlty Towers star and co-writer Connie Booth is to break her 30 year silence on the BBC1 sitcom in one of two specials for UKTV channel Gold.

Gold to reopen Fawlty Towers

Booth, who played put-upon Polly in the hotel comedy, will join co-stars Andrew Sachs, Prunella Scales and her former husband John Cleese in the two-hour show, Fawlty Towers: Re-Opened.

Cleese will also present a two-hour rundown of his ten favourite scenes in Fawlty Exclusive: Basil's Best Bits.

Cleese's fellow Pythons Michael Palin and Terry Jones will also contribute to the tributes, alongside fans including Eddie Izzard, AA Gill, Sir Trevor MacDonald, Happy Days star Henry Winkler, and the owners of the Gleneagles Hotel, which inspired the show.

The shows will also feature behind-the-scenes trivia, including unused anagrams of the hotel sign such as 'slow wet farty' and snippets of foreign re-makes of the series such as the Pakistani show, Guest House.

The Tiger Aspect shows will air at 9pm on 10 and 17 May respectively.
