Military jet crashes into San Diego homes

SAN DIEGO (Reuters) - A military jet crashed on Monday into a California residential neighborhood near San Diego, igniting several homes, local officials said.

Television images showed smoke billowing from the crash site in a tightly packed suburban neighborhood near the Miramar Naval Air Station. The pilot had reportedly ejected.

"At this point, the only indication is that the only person who may be injured is the pilot," Monica Munoz, spokeswoman for the San Diego police department, told local TV station KNSD.
