doing gender n. The study of the interpersonal aspects of
gender (1), focusing on the ways in which cognitive categories based on
sex (1) act as social cues that influence people's behaviour and elicit gender-specific patterns of interaction, thereby creating, maintaining, and reinforcing social inequalities.
