Climate change and rising sea levels threaten entire nations, leading to mass migrations from the countryside to cities with estimates of 200 million people displaced by 2050. Lack of rainfall in other regions will cause long-term droughts and devastate food production. This pending global crisis is the focus of a new report titled, “In Search of Shelter,” that was presented yesterday in Bonn, Germany at the UN Climate talks by the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN)
The report urges a global response rather than a series of local crises.
