Actress Kelly McGillis, best known for her role as the astrophysicist who revved Tom Cruise's jets in the classic '80s film "Top Gun," announced to Web site Shewired.com that she is "done with men."

The now-single McGillis, 51, who has been twice married and twice divorced, revealed in a video interview on the site that she is looking to date a woman and that she is "done with the man thing. I did that."

The actress said she had long struggled with her sexuality and coming out as a lesbian has been "an ongoing process from the time I was probably 12." At times she was convinced that God was punishing her for being gay.

McGillis, who also starred in "Witness," "The Accused" and "The L Word," added "life is a freaking journey, and it's about growing and changing, and coming to terms with who and what you are, and loving who and what you are."
