Wayne Grudem begins his book Business for the Glory of God by pointing out an attitude some can have toward business. It’s evil. It’s greedy. And people who pursue it must be offending God in some way.

Grudem argues the exact opposite in his book, “I am going to argue that many aspects of business are morally good in themselves, and in themselves they bring glory to God—although they also have great potential for misuse and wrongdoing.”

Business, according to Grudem, glorifies God by imitating his character. Yes, business can be terribly misused—just as can anything God created for good. But, even in our fallen world business can and should glorify the One who created it. Grudem uses scripture to show that what we think of as “secular” tasks like ownership, production, and employment glorify God as they reflect his character.
