"I let your good dreams pass on through, but bad dreams all I catch for you. I will hold them fast till morning light, then let those bad dreams all take flight."

Legend has it that all dreams are floating through the air during night searching for their destination. While sleeping under a dreamcatcher placed near the head, bad dreams are confused and get caught in the catcher´s web. The dreamcatcher holds them until the next day. All bad dreams perish in the morning light of the new day. But the good dreams know the way through the web and can easily slip through the center hole. They slide down the feathers and stones, taking on good energies from those objects. The good dreams can then enter the wise dreamer´s head, bringing the absorbed energy with them.

The origin of the dreamcatcher is said to have taken place a long time ago when a young Native American maiden was shown how a spider web was spun in a dream.

Some dreamcatcher are constructed to resemble medicine wheels
