AOL Slashes Bluestring, Xdrive, AOL Pictures, More

aol.jpgADOTAS – AOL is slimming down to prettify for a potential sale (not that anyone’s lining up to buy). Not only is it throwing several tech projects out the window, it’s getting rid of certain content blogs published on the Weblogs Inc. network.

Bluestring, Xdrive and AOL Pictures are set to close down; investment in AIMWorld will cease; MyMobile will close down and AOL’s video portal will merge with AOL programming video experience.

(NB: AOL bought Xdrive three years ago [the price was never disclosed but most agree it was in the neighborhood of $30 million] and according to TechCrunch, is currently trying to unload it in lieu of shutting it down …. for about $5 million.)
